File Compression

PeaZip- the Ultimate Compressor

PeaZip is a file manager and file archiver for Microsoft Windows and Linux.
It supports its native PEA archive format (featuring compression, multi volume split and flexible authenticated encryption and integrity check schemes) and other mainstream formats, with special focus on handling open formats.

PeaZip is mainly written in Free Pascal, using Lazarus. It is free software, released under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License.

Ok so about 99% of we people out there use WinRar or Winzip to squash our files into tiny spaces. Well you know and I know that neither of them are freeware. And neither of them are too functional either. Every day we ignore that annoying "your trial period has expired" message.

Sure you should remember never to judge a book by its cover (I know Peazip sounds funny), but Peazip is a very shocking bit of software. It contains hundreds of different types of compression algorithms and many even you never heard of.

Some of these compression formats can achieve astounding compressed sizes, making Peazip an absolute must have. Of course Peazip can render all your basic needs to as it can open all .zip, .rar formats.

The interface is well organised ( click here) with no extra buttons or bars creating clutter on the window. Peazip also integrates itself into your Operating System allowing you to have instant right-click menus at your disposal. The software is fast to load and very user friendly.

The perfect thing to say goodbye to all your file portability worries.

Novice-friendly but with features for the expert and free archiving tools rarely cover all those bases,
but PeaZip hits a home run.

Operating PeaZip is as easy as dragging files.
Drop a ZIP file on the interface and PeaZip goes into decompression mode. Drop a regular file and it opens the archiving screen.
Well-labeled buttons and simple functions make both processes quick and painless. Adding files and folders is also quickly accomplished using function buttons and traditional file browse tools.

Novice users will be able to use default settings to create well-made archives.
Experienced users will like the easily set options. Each well-designed interface includes option tabs that contain simple pull-downs, radio buttons, and text boxes to set compression levels, methods, dictionaries, and even encryption.
Most users will find this app one of the most simple to set exactly to their preferences.

It is available either as installable and portable application (not needing installation). Full support: 7Z, 7Z-sfx, ARC/WRC, BZ2/TBZ2, Custom (user defined), GZ/TGZ, PAQ/LPAQ, PEA, QUAD/BALZ, split, TAR, UPX, ZIP. Version 2.6.3 has added support for MS Office Template file types (a total of 90 file extensions are now supported).

Anyone looking for a small and useful archiving tool should give PeaZip a test. Most won't continue their search.
